姚勇
学校创始人，艺术总监，讲师
姚勇老师毕业于北京舞蹈学院，1984年被该校聘为讲师及舞蹈编导。他的作品曾在国内外多次获奖。1991年，姚勇老师来到湾区，担任飞扬艺术团艺术总监。他也曾在De Anza College，San Jose Dance Theatre，Ohlone College和Stanford Health Improvement Program 客座教学。1993年得到圣克拉拉郡艺术理事会编导奖励。姚老师的作品《黄河》在1994年被列为二十世纪中国经典作品。这一奖项是颁给中国当代艺术家的最高荣誉。他的近作《二泉映月》，《太平天鼓》，及《神龙千禧》在飞扬艺术节中首演，获得各界的好评。姚老师与圣何塞芭蕾舞团的艺术总监Dennis Nahat共同编导了《神哉中华》舞剧，在2005年二月首映，由飞扬艺术团与圣何塞芭蕾舞团联合演出。他由于2006年为圣何塞芭蕾舞团以西方芭蕾舞的形式编导了全新的《二泉映月》。姚老师于2006年获得圣克拉拉郡亚洲英雄奖，2008年被邀参加美国国家广播电视《卓越档案》节目。2010年，受聘湖北省歌剧舞剧院担任舞蹈总监。姚老师的事绩被收入北京大学中国名人丛书编委会编辑出版的《中国当代文艺名人辞典》。
Mr. Yong Yao
Founder, Artistic Director, Instructor
Mr. Yao is an accomplished dancer, choreographer, and instructor from Beijing Dance Academy. His works include modern, classical, and regional folk styles which garnered many awards in dance competitions. Mr. Yao joined Chinese Performing Arts of America as Artistic Director in 1991. The Arts Council of Santa Clara County awarded him a choreography fellowship in 1993. Mr. Yao has also taught several Chinese Dance master classes at De Anza College, San Jose Dance Theatre, Ohlone College, and Stanford Health Improvement Program. In 1994, Mr. Yao’s choreograph ‘Yellow River Suite’ was voted one of ‘20th Century Masterpieces by Chinese Dancers’ in China. His name was listed in the Dictionary of Chinese Contemporary Hall of Fame’ by Beijing University, under the Literature and Arts category. Mr. Yao has collaborated with Dennis Nahat, Artistic Director of Ballet San Jose, and co-choreographed a full-length dance drama ‘Middle Kingdom Ancient China’, which premiered in February 2005. Mr. Yao also choreographed ‘Moon Reflection on Crystal Spring’ for ballet San Jose in April of 2006. He received the Santa Clara County Asian Hero Award in 2006, and was featured on ABC’s ‘Profile of Excellence’ in 2008. He joined Hubei Opera and Dance Drama Theatre as Dance Director in 2010.
